Married to the Heptathlon world record holder Jackie Joyner-Kersee who he coached during her career, Bobby Kersee is one of the premier sprints and hurdles coaches in the world and has guided numerous athletes to Olympic and World titles.
In the 2008 Olympic Games Kersee coached Dawn Harper to gold in the 100m hurdles Shaun Crawford and Allyson Felix to silver medals in the 200m and Kerron Clement to Silver in the 400m hurdles. He also helped coach the U.S. 4x400m relay team to gold. He has overseen consecutive world titles in the 400m hurdles for Kerron Clement in 2007 and 2009 as well as 100m hurdles titles for Michelle Perry in 2005 and 2007. He has coached Allyson Felix to a hat trick of world titles in the 200m won in 2005, 2007 and 2009. At the 2004 Olympics he coached Joanna Hayes to the 100m Hurdles title at the Athens Olympics and prior to that had coached Gail Devers to consecutive 100m titles in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics.
